BA Women’s Networking Group: Imposter Syndrome, hosted by Hanna Jackson of CAPCORP

For those of you who didn’t get the chance to sit in on part one of our imposter syndrome discussion, here is a quick recap ahead of part two. Imposter syndrome is a psychological phenomenon in which individuals doubt their achievements and fear being exposed as frauds. This experience often manifests through four key characteristics: perfectionism, fear of success, self-doubt, and overworking. While the underlying causes can vary from person to person, the most common and consistent contributors include family expectations and upbringing, personality traits, new opportunities, and work environment. Regardless of the specific triggers or manifestations, what truly matters is developing an awareness of these feelings. By recognizing and acknowledging them, you open yourself up to greater opportunities for personal and professional growth and lay the foundation for challenging and overcoming the negative thoughts that accompany imposter syndrome.

Pharmacogenomic Testing: Useful Diagnostic Tool or Revolution in Healthcare?

Hosted by BA Principal, David Frank. “The evolution of medicine is pivoting towards a more personalized approach, with pharmacogenomics playing a pivotal role in tailoring treatments based on an individual’s genetic makeup. This emerging field is poised to revolutionize the way chronic conditions and mental health are managed, with significant implications for employee benefits plans.” – Pension & Benefits Monitor, October 3rd, 2024. Pharmacogenomic testing has been around for over a decade now. Only in recent years has this test been adopted by insurers to help manage LTD claims by identifying the most appropriate drug (and dose) based on disabled plan members’ unique genetic makeup. Can we count on group insurers to expand the use of these tests to improve drug efficacy for all plan members and their families before they become too ill to work? What are the claims implications to the plan sponsor if they pay for the test? Or should plan members continue to pay? Is pharmacogenomic testing merely a tool, or is it the future of healthcare? Let’s hear from you!
