In this week’s spotlight, we’re talking with Sarah Toth. Sarah is the person who members and partners interact with the most and we appreciate all that she does to keep everything moving along.
Where are you based?
Benefits Alliance HQ is based in the Greater Toronto Area, but we support our members Canada-wide.
How long have you been working with Benefits Alliance?
Time flies when you are having fun. I just started my 7th year with BA, and this is the greatest position I have ever held!
How would you describe your position?
While my official title is Executive Assistant, I think of myself as a Juggler and ‘Follow-Upper.’ I juggle a lot of interesting activities which I enjoy because I get bored if the pace is slow – and the pace at BA is the opposite of slow! The ‘Follow-Upper’ part of my position lets me interact daily with BA Members and Preferred Partners alike, which I enjoy immensely.
What is your favourite event the BA has put on and why?
My favourite event was the 2016 BA Fall Conference in New Orleans. It was my first in-person event with BA, and I did not know anyone. BA Members Bill Zolis, Richard Mototsune, Debra Dobing, and Richard Dobing invited me to hang out on our first day and we had a pleasant afternoon of enjoying New Orleans food and drinks and touring. They were very kind to me and I hold that as a special memory. I also had fun when we had our own BA Parade in New Orleans complete with Dixieland band.
What is a piece of advice you’d give to new members to get the most from their membership?
New and existing members alike – please get involved – the more you give, the more you get! BA has 7 operational committees and an impressive amount of events all year long that Members can benefit from. One hour per month of you volunteering on a BA Committee will yield greater payback than you can imagine.
What is the most frequent question that you get asked?
How do I access the Knowledge Library? (click here – but you’ll need to log in)
Tell us something that people don’t know about you:
I enjoy attending auctions to decorate our century home. l also like Victorian fiction, something about ladies in long dresses drinking tea is very appealing to me.
What is one of your favourite things about working with BA Members and Partners?
Every day is different when supporting multiple priority groups like BA President Mike Macoun, 11 Committees, 27 BA member firms and 30 BA Preferred Partner firms.
