This week we’re learning more about Melanie Porter of Green Benefits Group
What inspired you to enter the industry?
Well, by accident! When I started working in the industry I was in an Admin Assistant role – I slowly started to learn the ins and outs of Benefit Advisory and knew that’s what I wanted to pursue. Working mainly with smaller companies and seeing the difference we can provide in helping their organizations inspired me to grow from there.
Who is your mentor?
Within the industry, my team! I’ve worked with many of my teammates for a long time and they’ve provided an enormous amount of support over the years.
What are some things that people don’t know about you?
I love to bake! It’s the norm to see flour scattered across my kitchen island.
What are the biggest lessons that you have learned in the business?
To trust my instincts, always
Do you have insights about the industry that you would like to share?
I’m excited to see what the future holds for the benefit industry – it’s been stale for a long while and it’s fun to be a part of the changes. It’s happening fast – modernization, digitalization, flexibility – those that embrace this and do it well will succeed.
