What is your name?

Tammy Phelps

What is the name of your presentation?

Extension of EI Sickness Benefit Duration: What’s Your Vote?

What is a key takeaway you’re hoping the audience leaves with?

Hoping advisors will be well-equipped to explain changes, speak to what other plan sponsors are doing, and discussion potential pricing implications of plan amendments one may consider as a result.

Why should this topic be important to our conference attendees?

Clients are always looking to their advisor for advice on what they should do and often as part of that advice they want to understand what other plan sponsors are doing or are likely to do.

What’s a question you hope to be asked following your session?

I would hope that we get some questions around products that are available to help with the challenges a longer EI sickness benefit could cause if the plan sponsor is relying on the 26 week EI sickness benefit to address their employees income loss during those weeks – (i.e. low income replacement level or lack of early intervention)

What is something people may not know about you?

I like fast rides – roller coasters, bob sled run in both Lake Placid and Jamaica….but don’t put me on a slow coaster because I’m afraid of heights.

What is a recent book or movie that you would recommend?

I recently watched a Man Called Otto and really enjoyed it – good mix of humor and touching story line.

If you could have dinner with anyone, who would it be and why? What question would you ask them?

I would choose Michelle Obama – I a believer in lessons learned so I would ask her what lessons she’s learned during her time in the White House and how has that experience changed her?

How can people connect with you after the conference?

Linked in or email

Anything else you’d like to add for people attending the conference?

I guess I would just say I have a lot of respect for the roles they have, having walked in their shoes, and hope that they see Empire as a partner and trusted resource to support them in that role.
