We’re learning about Jerica Doiron, Account Executive at Beneva.

Where in Canada are you based?

Toronto, Ontario

Please introduce yourself.

I bring strong expertise in the benefits industry, having worked both in a consulting role and now in a client‑facing role. This combination gives me a well‑rounded perspective and allows me to offer thoughtful recommendations, innovative solutions, and a clear understanding of the challenges our industry faces today.

When I’m not on the road meeting with clients, you’ll usually find me checking out new local spots, spending time with my dog, Franco, and my cat, Bruno – cute, right? I also stay on top of whatever podcast or show everyone is talking about… even if it’s not worth the hype. My FOMO is real.

What do you appreciate most about being a Benefits Alliance member?

The opportunity to connect and collaborate with industry professionals is invaluable and sharing insights and best practices helps all of us stay ahead. The benefits landscape is constantly evolving, and this community provides a fantastic hub for resources, knowledge exchange, and ongoing learning.

What is your favourite part of your role?

I enjoy working with advisors, solving problems together, and staying on top of an industry that’s always evolving. No two days are the same, and that’s what keeps me motivated!

How do you define success?

Success is doing work I’m proud of and helping others succeed along the way.

What are the biggest challenges you face in your role or in this industry?

One of the biggest challenges is navigating constant industry changes while ensuring advisors and clients stay informed. Balancing fast‑moving updates, pricing pressures, and rising expectations around service can be demanding.

How do you manage work/life balance?

In a role that’s always on the go, I balance work and life by staying organized, managing my schedule proactively, and being intentional with my downtime. Recharging outside of work helps me be more focused and effective with clients.

What books/resources do you recommend that every business person should check out?

I’ll plug a BA member Robin Bailey’s podcast “Success Leaves Clues” It’s been a great resource with thoughtful conversations and valuable insights.

What advice would you give to people who want to join this industry?

Be patient with yourself. This industry has a lot of moving parts, but once you learn how everything connects, it becomes incredibly rewarding. Lean on others, ask questions, and surround yourself with people who are willing to teach and support you. Everyone in this industry was new at some point.

If your friends/family/colleagues were to give you an award, what would it be for?

The “Calm in the Chaos” Award for staying weirdly calm when everyone else is two seconds from full meltdown.

If someone would make a documentary about you, what would be the title?

“She’ll Figure It Out” A documentary about my natural ability to solve problems I’ve never signed up for.
