Pharmacogenomic Testing: Useful Diagnostic Tool or Revolution in Healthcare?

October 17 @ 12:30 pm - 1:15 pm EDT

Hosted by BA Principal, David Frank.

“The evolution of medicine is pivoting towards a more personalized approach, with pharmacogenomics playing a pivotal role in tailoring treatments based on an individual’s genetic makeup. This emerging field is poised to revolutionize the way chronic conditions and mental health are managed, with significant implications for employee benefits plans.” – Pension & Benefits Monitor, October 3rd, 2024.

Pharmacogenomic testing has been around for over a decade now. Only in recent years has this test been adopted by insurers to help manage LTD claims by identifying the most appropriate drug (and dose) based on disabled plan members’ unique genetic makeup.

Can we count on group insurers to expand the use of these tests to improve drug efficacy for all plan members and their families before they become too ill to work? What are the claims implications to the plan sponsor if they pay for the test? Or should plan members continue to pay?

Is pharmacogenomic testing merely a tool, or is it the future of healthcare?

Let’s hear from you!
