Please introduce yourself.
Hi there! I’m Mike Kondrat. I’m Director of Sales and Partner Experience at Beneva. I’ve been with Beneva since 2023, and spent the majority of my career in the group benefits industry. In my spare time I can be found playing drums, watching a movie on the big screen, or working on my guitar collection. But let’s be honest, I’m mostly just doing chores around the house.
What do you appreciate most about being a Benefits Alliance member?
As I’m still new to this relationship, I’m really looking forward to learning more about the Benefits Alliance and seeing how we can grow together. Ask me again next year and I’ll have a fully informed answer!
What is your favourite part of your role?
I’m always meeting new people and learning new things
How do you define success?
To me, success is not about outcomes, but rather the path you take. If you’ve given your full effort; that is success.
What are the biggest challenges you face in your role or in this industry?
The group insurance landscape is ever changing. It can be challenging to keep on top of everything.
How do you manage work/life balance?
I’m quite strict that when I’m working, I am fully working, and when I’m not; I am not! I bring my total attention to whatever is in front of me.
What books/resources do you recommend that every business person should check out?
Obviously Beneva’s “Ask the Experts” podcast!
What advice would you give to people who want to join this industry?
Our industry is a hidden gem. It’s filled with good people, interesting work, and exciting challenges. I know that the “insurance salesman” is a cliché, but I assure you that it’s not what you think.
If your friends/family/colleagues were to give you an award, what would it be for?
Best Actor in a Comedy. My life tends to be part sitcom, but MOSTLY improv.
