This week we get to know Lio Spagnuolo from Penmore Financial Group. To learn more about Penmore please visit their website.
Where does your firm operate?
We have offices in Concord, Oshawa, and Calgary and we are licensed and do work in ON, Alberta, BC, NB and NL.
How did you enter the industry?
I was approached by London Life while I was finishing off my university degree. I have spent the entirety of my carrier in the employee benefits and retirement planning space.
What makes Penmore unique?
Penmore is unique in that we have 3 specialties. Domestic and International Employee benefits and Retirement. We have dedicated teams in each specialty with 20+ years of experience. We take a very hands-on approach and work very closely with clients’ human resources teams building out plans and rolling them out with marketing collateral and education.
What is something that people do not know about you?
Don’t really have anything here, I am pretty much an open book.
What is the biggest lesson that you have learned in the business?
Listening is the biggest lesson. Often people spend too much time talking and not really hearing what their client’s wants and needs are. By doing this you can build out plans that are valued by both the client and its employees.
How has The Benefits Alliance Group impacted Penmore?
The BA has been a very important part of Penmore’s growth. The relationships and knowledge I was able to acquire over the years have been integral to our growth. I believe this is the foundation of the BA. The BA has evolved into the voice of the industry, and I believe has a huge role as an advocate for our industry.
Do you have insights about the industry that you would like to share? Thoughts about the future of our Industry?
I think the rate of change in our industry is speeding up. Covid has required both consultants and the insurance industry to pivot and adapt more quickly than they may have anticipated. Clients will need good partners to help them navigate the changes and help them make the right choices for their business and their employees. I am excited to see what the future holds for our industry and how Penmore can help its clients.
