Where your firm operates, geographically speaking.
We have offices in Ottawa and Toronto. We work with clients nationwide.
How did you enter the industry?
Although my father was in the benefits and insurance industry all my life, I entered the industry by a persistent nudge from one of his business partners nearly 17 years ago. My father was quite surprised, but fortunately, let me figure out my way from there.
What makes Capcorp different?
We really care about protecting our clients and their employees. The level of care drives us to make sure our clients are getting the best advice and service relating to benefits and even advice around running and growing their business.
What is something that people do not know about you?
A lot of folks know that I enjoy spending time on the water with my family, but most don’t know I’ve actually spent a lot of time offshore sailing, including two transatlantic passages.
What is the biggest lesson that you have learned in the business?
Never rest on the status quo – we need to keep shifting to what our clients and their employees need and value.
What are you hoping to do with The Benefits Alliance Group?
For our firm, the BA helps us stay at the leading edge of what is happening in our industry along with giving us an even bigger voice in the marketplace with our supplier partners.
Do you have insights about the industry that you would like to share? Thoughts about the future of our Industry?
I think our industry has two big challenges. First, we have a huge number of advisors/consultants who are nearing the end of their career paired with significant barriers/smaller numbers of new, younger advisors coming into the market. We need to consider how we transition in the best way forward. Second, our industry has traditionally been too slow at adopting new technologies – both advisors and carriers. We need to embrace different mediums and methods of delivering value to our clients and their employees. We are connected in such different ways, even in the last 18 months – let’s not stop there.
