I am the Service Manager at Sutton in Group Pensions

What excites you about being an advisor?
I love interacting with our clients and helping them to discover how to make their money work for them.
How do you define success?
Success is not about money. It’s about the sense of satisfaction from your life – the daily things that you do that fill your cup.
What are the biggest challenges to being an entrepreneur?
Seeking out new clients would be a big challenge for me (and I’m glad that’s not my department at Sutton!). I love that I have the privilege of servicing the clients we have and onboarding the new ones.
How do you manage work/life balance?
I have a strong work ethic, so I work on other things, even when home. My social life is filled with community things as I also serve as Mayor of my town.
What books/resources do you recommend that every business person should check out?
I think that first, everyone should have insight into who they are and their tendencies as a person. From there, I would recommend these books: Exactly What to Say – Phil M Jones; Crucial Conversations and Crucial Accountability – Patterson et al; High Conflict – Amanda Ripley; and Getting to Neutral – Trevor Mowad.
What advice would you give to people who want to become an advisor?
I see this as a rewarding career and a person should consider if they are prepared to have probing conversations with people when considering this as a career.

Likely for always pitching in – I’m the person who steps up to help at everything.
